Printable Puppy Training Planner: Your First-Week Routine

Updated November 7, 2026

Puppies learn fastest when every day looks similar. A written routine helps everyone in the household do the same thing at the same time — which is most of what early training is.

Plan toilet breaks around predictable moments

Take your puppy out after waking, after eating, after play and before bed. Logging each trip for the first week shows you their natural rhythm — and makes accidents easier to prevent.

Keep the first week calm

Short play sessions, plenty of sleep and a quiet space with a crate or pen. Introduce new people, sounds and surfaces gently and positively.

  • Write down meal times and amounts and keep them consistent.
  • Agree on a few cue words everyone uses.
  • Book a vet visit in the first week and record vaccinations.

Use a checklist for socialisation

A checklist of sounds, people and places turns socialisation into small daily goals. Ask your veterinarian when it's safe for your puppy to meet other dogs.

Questions

Does the pack replace a trainer?

No. It's an organiser for routines and records. For behaviour concerns, speak to a qualified trainer or your vet.
